Assumption is defined as a statement assumed to be true and from which conclusions can be drawn without proof. – Dictionary.
Assumption can be directed in our daily living, assuming how good/bad our day or future will turn out to be, but the fact is, we barely can function without them. And yet, we maneuver through our daily lives assuming the outcome of our lives, and we tend to be stresses when all those assumed outcomes are not fulfilled! But I can attest that assumption is used mostly for negative means in our world today. Assumption is the birthed lane of all screw ups, with reactions of anger, hatred, depression, frustration, etc.
Today in our society, assumption has eaten so deep into the hearts of so many people, leaving all sorts of bad, dirty, worse and ugly ideas beyond human imagination. It would be correct if I state that this societal assumption have driven so many into a ledge, where many might have even lost their precious lives, some where able to dust themselves, continue with their lives, and others left broken beyond repair emotionally and mentally. Assumption leads to unconfirmed conclusions or rumors falsely passed across to society, resulting to defamation of ones personality and character. And some of our neighbours, loved ones, colleagues even derive pleasure in assuming the worse of other fellow humans and total condemnation.
Though, we all are guilty of assumption sometimes without realizing it, which is a deadly combination in relationships, work place, among neighbours, originating false hopes of things that might not be fulfilled. False rumors of some sort such as theft, cheating or adultery, embezzlement, etc, might have played out at some point. And finding yourself in such situation can leads to emotional or mental instability, whereby you’ll need the grace of God to wipe off such stigma branded on you. Though, accusations are sometimes confirmed to be true and most times, they ain’t real but just challenges and mishaps conjured by life.
A relationship or social gathering with lack of trust, assumption dwells. You’ll believe nothing your spouse says, even if they’re telling the truth at that time. Though most times, our assuming thoughts might appears to be the truth, but lets not make assumption apart of our lifestyle. I personally in my past relationships, have at some point assumed the worst of my ex, Some turned out to be true and others were just mind games.
In a nutshell, we can hopefully learn to stop and think about our actions based on assumptions since we make them frequently, And instead of them ruling us, we should rather rule them.
